Méiyoutóu

“Keep your head on your shoulder at all times, or you may get it stolen”. A warning to people going out late at night of the danger lurking in the shadows fill with envy.

Like the Méiyoutóu, a headless human-like creature that roams the street for any addition to its ever-growing collection. Legend says that such a creature had once a face of beauty, making him the envy of many.

He would go around the world, charming beasts of all statuses along its journey. Many gave him their love and most valuable possession, but unfortunately for them, the Méiyoutóu always ended up wanting more. At that point, he would search for a new flame to conquer, leaving with the stolen heart of its last conquest.

To take revenge on all whose hearts were taken by such an entity, one of the most sacred beasts put judgment on him.

Incapable of appreciating the long-lasting affection all his conquest developed for him, she decided to behead him and send him to the human world as a punishment, hoping for him to

understand the meaning of acceptance.

Ever since then, the Méiyoutóu has been living along humans,

devoured by envy. Each night, lurking in alleyways, hoping to find a head fitting for the one he had lost. Once the human-like creature has found a liking to one’s face, he would go after it, hoping to wear it himself.

When the prey is in contact with him, it would remove the head of his previous kill, showing his tendril-like neck ready to lunge on the poor, weak-minded individual. One swift movement and the head is removed from its body.

Incapable of discarding the previous head, he would swallow it whole with the rest of its previous kill, adding one more to the pile hidden deep within.
